The Hawkesbury area has a rich tradition in agriculture. Therefore, it is the aim of the Hawkesbury District Agricultural Association (HDAA) to help develop local agriculture, through competitions and events, by providing the district with a facility where the very best produce can be exhibited for all to see. Subsequently, the HDAA has undertaken the continuous development of its showground complex where all available funds are utilised for the further development of this community based recreational facility for the enjoyment and utilisation of all.

Celebrating its tenth year, the 2012 Farming Small Areas Expo (Hawkesbury Showground, Richmond, November 9-10) is Sydney's largest small acreage showcase

Featuring everything from machinery to livestock, product development to trade and commercial interests, the Farming Small Areas Expo offers something for everyone. From food to fashion, cattle to kitchenware – the Farming Small Areas Expo attracts thousands of visitors each year - including 'tree changers', families and those simply looking for a great day out!

Established in 2003 – today's Farming Small Areas Expo has grown to well over 200 exhibitors – from large commercial and trade sites to small home-based businesses and just about everything in between.

Attracting small area land holders, families, day trippers and those looking to make the much publicized 'tree change' – the event is part and parcel of the official NSW field day calendar.

Featuring the best in agricultural, commercial and leisure pursuits, the 2011 Expo will once again play host a comprehensive 2-day equine arena display courtesy NSW TAFE, fabulous how-to demonstrations plus a raft of free hands-on activities and family fun activities.
